4 Podcasts Every Young Woman Should Listen To

Let’s be honest. Most of us are busy with a thousand things every day, from trying to be healthy to killing it in the work place. So it makes sense that when you want to learn something new, you want to do it in a smart, efficient way. Hence the magic of podcasts. However, there are dozens of different topics and thousands of options out there, so I’ve tried to make it easier to find by listing my tried and true options. Have a look:

  1. Stuff You Missed In History Class

This podcast is guaranteed make you feel ten times smarter after every episode (okay maybe not guaranteed). Hosts Holly and Tracy make even the most seemingly mundane historical event -looking at you, Cod Wars– interesting and fun. Staying up-to-date with this podcast will make you the star of your Tuesday night trivia team.

2. Call Your Girlfriend

If you are a sassy feminist who cares about the world, you’ll love this podcast. As a woman who grew up not having a ton of strong ladies to look up to, it is so refreshing to listen to Aminatou and Ann discuss pop culture, politics, and what its like being a boss lady in today’s world.

3. Any News Podcast Of Your Choosing

Fun fact: I listen to a news podcast every single day. I particularly enjoy my news podcasts because being nothing is better than knowing what the heck is going on in the world.  I don’t feel comfortable recommending the two news related podcasts I regularly keep up with because they aren’t in English but I’ve included English language recommendations below.

4. Serial

If you describe your favorite books or movies as “thrillers” or “true crime”, you will love Serial, which investigates a new court case every season. It has been MIA since Season 2 despite rumors about Season 3. If you’ve loved Serial and looking for something of a similar nature, I’ve heard that Up and Vanished will get you on the edge of your seat just as quickly.
